Up on one press, down on the next

Fish Dive, cover image

Fish Dive is a reflex game built around a leap real fish already make. They leave the water, follow a curve, and go back in headfirst. Here, the fish keeps moving forward on its own. Under the surface, press to send it up. In the air, press to send it down.

Each press throws the fish forward. Gravity bends that path, so the leap comes back toward the water on a curve. Watch where the curve will land, and press again before a mine is sitting there. If you wait until the spikes are next to the fish, the press is already late.

The run is about dodging every mine. There is no last level and no finish line. The score goes up each time the fish gets past one. Hit a mine and the run ends. That score stays on screen, and the next try starts over.

Dodge every mine

PRESS TO GO DOWN when the fish is in the air. PRESS TO GO UP when it is under the surface. Those two presses are how you keep it off the mines. Hit one and the fish turns into a skeleton. The run ends there.

Time the curve, not the last second

Jump too early and the arc can carry you into a mine above the surface. Dive too late and the fish drops onto one waiting underneath. The waterline moves, so a gap that looks open from the air can close before you get there. Watch the next opening, and press before the spikes are beside the fish.

The gaps get tighter as the run goes on, and the groups get less regular. Take a tight cluster one mine at a time. Extra taps can knock the fish off the line you wanted.

Points, pickups, and the other fish

There is no level cap. The score rises as you get past the mines, and the number to beat is the one from your last run.

Pickups sit along the course, sometimes in a narrow gap or right beside a mine. Take one when the curve already goes through it. Leave it when grabbing it means a second, riskier press. Points and pickups unlock more fish. You start with one. The others stay locked until you spend what you collected. A new fish changes the look. The leap and the dive stay the same.
