Creatures come to the boat to be fed. A sea turtle is one of them. Catch a fish it wants, scale it, and serve it. You can tell from the creature whether the fish was a favorite.
Scale the Depths gameplay
Steer the hook with A and D, scale the fish slowly, then serve it.
Hook it, scale it, then serve it
Scale the Depths is a catch you bring back to a creature waiting at the boat. Press A and D to move the hook. Steer it into a swimming fish. Hits bring that fish's HP down until it is caught. Better fish show up the deeper the hook goes.
A caught fish still has to be scaled. Drag the mouse in steady strokes and pull the scales off. A hard drag damages the fish, and that plate pays less. Serve the creature what it wants. A favorite pays more than a fish it shrugs off. Watch how it takes the plate, then adjust the next catch.
Cash from a good serve buys gear. Length on the rod comes first, because that is how the hook reaches the deeper fish. After that, the hook hits harder, the scaler works faster, and storage holds more fish before you have to head back. Click through the shop to buy them.
How to Play Scale the Depths

A creature is waiting at the boat

Steer the hook into the fish
A and D move the hook. Steer it into a swimming fish until the fish is caught. Better fish spawn the deeper you go, so a longer rod is what opens that water.
Pull the scales off in steady strokes
The hook is only half the catch. Once the fish is up, drag the mouse across the scales. Keep the stroke even. Rush it, or pull too hard, and the fish is damaged. A damaged fish pays less, so a slow scale is worth more than a fast one you have to replace.
The scaler upgrade is what speeds that job up later. Early on, the mouse is the whole tool. Same mouse clicks through the shop when you are done serving.
Serve a favorite, then buy reach
Each creature wants its own fish. Serve a favorite and the cash is better. Serve the wrong one and the pay drops, even if the scale job was clean. Take a second look at the creature before you hand the plate over.
Spend the cash on rod length before anything else. Deeper water is where the better fish are, and length is what gets the hook there. Hook damage shortens a tough fight. Storage lets you hold more fish before the trip back. The scaler is for the scaling, once the catches are already coming in.
